This post is brought to you at 11:55pm because I napped (ughhh) from 6pm to 10pm and ohmygoodness, whyyy. 

  • As I noted in my previous post, I had a shitty weekend. Although, perhaps that’s too harsh to say. After all I did just move here, and it’s natural to feel this way for the first few months, right?!
  • I remember when I moved to Melbourne it took me about nine(!) months to find my footing, and that was with a boyfriend I could use to do stuff in the evenings and weekends.
  • I bought these pretty lamps off wayfair today. And get this, they’re by chance the *exact* same lamps that Lily has in her room! 
  • I also ate WAY too much food today and am feeling so overwhelmingly gross right now.  Like, I want to declare “tomorrow will be different!” but I know whenever I’m full it’s easy to say that. I’m in a mental state where every tomorrow is a Monday, and it’s okay, as I’ll start then.  I feel so gross in my own skin though, and know that by losing weight it’ll significantly increase my confidence / mental state / help with my knee / help with dating / and the list goes on… 
  • My scale arrived today! Last week when I was in Toronto I shipped a huge box of items to myself, and my scale was in it. Standing on the scale today was not fun, but at least now I can track myself each morning and not live in denial 
  • My mom booked her flights to come and visit me in April; colour me excited!! I’m thinking of surprising her with a helicopter tour of NYC! 
  • I’m in Philadelphia for work this week Tuesday to Thursday! I’m taking the train down there and am quite excited as I’ve never been. 
  • In May I’m also heading to San Francisco for a week (work related), and then the following week to Paris (for pleasure) and I’m taking TWO RED EYES BACK TO BACK and am sooo tired already just thinking about it
  • So… I’ve been on (drum roll please) the apps. Tinder and Bumble and Hinge. I’ve also done Bumble BFF.  It’s all quite useless and I have little hope in the whole process. 
  • If you pop over to my Instagram (LizClaire_) you’ll see in my stories the “How much did it cost me to move to NYC?” numbers broken down. Grand total was US$5,457.  I’m really proud of myself that I’m still using my budget spreadsheet despite the crazy complication of currencies and the move. 
  • OH. THIS IS CRAZY.  So….. I bought a Tuft and Needle mattress from Amazon. I loved it in the beginning, but then sadly my back started to hurt after a few weeks. I researched it a bit, and apparently, it’s a thing for some women with this mattress. So I contacted Amazon to return it, and they FULLY refunded me (US$550) and I got to KEEP the mattress.  Crazy, eh? A free mattress! Except, it really does hurt my lower back, so part of me wishes they had just come and taken it, but I want to figure out a way to keep it (it’s too hard, so maybe I can add a softener?) but realistically I’ll probably donate it, as one shouldn’t mess with their back/sleep. Anyways, it was great service from Amazon. 
  • My room is messy. I haven’t been able to find the energy to fully unpack and organize it. Truthfully I feel like it reflects my mind right now. 
  • Recent binge watches: The Window (Amazon TV), Working Moms (Netflix), Free Solo (Hulu), as you can see, I’ve been VERY productive lately. 
  • Okay, the clock has striked 12:10pm, which is way past my bedtime. Here’s to a new week, a fresh start, and figuring out how to make this city my home.
